Orbis is a shared services partnership between Brighton and Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council, and Surrey County Council. We are looking to recruit a Head of Business Operations for our Surrey based team to help us harness and continue embellishing a culture of continuous improvement.

To do this we are looking for a leader, not a boss, who can use their expertise and personality to drive down unit cost to achieve operational excellence whilst understanding staff motivation and moral are critical to support this.

The position will also work closely with the senior management team and our commercial team to help explore and identify commercial opportunities. An ability to build strong working relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders will be key and you will be a champion for the work that we do inspiring others.

The post holder will also act as the strategic process owner for the Hire to retire part of our operation on behalf of the partnership, so should also carry significant Operational HR expertise to be able to facilitate process improvement in our transactional areas. Working closely with the Corporate HR senior management you will drive the teams forward to be seen as leaders in the HR shared service industry.

 To be considered for interview your CV and personal statement will clearly evidence:

Significant experience of successfully managing a large (100 plus) high performing private sector operational team or public sector experience of working in partnerships delivering competitive back office services.

Ability to cultivate a performance culture utilising metrics and reporting to monitor team effectiveness.

Experience of driving and delivering continuous improvement and change management with tangible results.

Proven background in creating successful commercial business with high customer retention.

An ability to build, sustain and grow relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This would be of most relevance if there is demonstrable experience in managing demanding clients for back office services.
